A Gift of Independence

Your contribution to Freedom Guide dogs means someone's freedom. All funds are applied to provide highly trained guide dogs to men and women who are blind. A guide dog not only offers independence and mobility but companionship as they travel through life together as a team. There is no charge to the client for the trained guide, or the equipment that goes with the guide. Freedom Guide Dogs is 501 (C) (3), a not-for profit charity and does not receive any funding from the government, or insurance. Your contributions go a long ways in helping us continue to serve the blind through our "Hometown Training." If your company participates in the United Way, Freedom Guide Dogs can be your designated charity by writing us in through your employment giving. All donations are tax deductible.

Donor Recognition Opportunities

THE FREEDOM FOREVER FUND

The Freedom Forever Fund was established to ensure the continued delivery of Freedom’s vital services to people with visual and other disabilities.  Individuals and organizations are encouraged to make gifts of $1,000 or more to the Fund in the form of cash, stocks or bonds, grants, and bequests.  Gifts may be made in the donor's name or in memory or honor of another individual.  All contributions to the Fund are tax-deductible.  And donors have the satisfaction of knowing that their support is helping Freedom Guide Dogs grow a permanent endowment that will generate perpetual, life-sustaining income for the organization.  During the years ahead, income from the Freedom Forever Fund will be used to…

  • Ensure that local and national economic downturns never impinge upon the provision of Freedom’s services to disabled individuals
  • Fund new programs that address emerging needs
  • Safeguard against fluctuations in Freedom Guide Dogs’ annual campaign
THE FREEDOM FOREVER SOCIETY

Membership in The Freedom Forever Society is open to individuals, families, and estates that have remembered Freedom Guide Dogs in their wills through bequests or estate plans.  Society members are honored annually by Freedom through special recognition events and by listing their names in the organization's annual report.

Note:  Persons who make bequest gifts to the Freedom Forever Fund will automatically be considered members of The Freedom Forever Society.

Making a Gift through your Will

If you choose to remember Freedom Guide Dogs in your will, it will be a lasting memoriam for years to come with the miles the blind travel with their faithful Guide Dogs.

One of the most common types of bequests is an outright gift of a specified amount. A gift can range from a few dollars to feed a guide dog in training, to the placing of many guide dog teams.

Residual Funds: Individuals can choose to name Freedom Guide Dogs as the recipient of funds remaining in their estates after all others named in the will are provided for.

Stock: Supporters can choose to bequeath shares of stock.

Freedom Guide Dog can be named the beneficiary of annuities or life insurance policies or you may bequeath property, such as land or a house.

become a guide dog.

We have new and exciting options for puppy sponsorships.  Listed below are three different ways you can help Freedom Guide Dogs continue to place highly trained guides with visually impaired people in the northeast.

Option 1 - Adopting a Puppy
For $10.00 a month, for 18 months you can adopt a puppy.  You can send a monthly check with the coupon that you can print from the bottom of the page, or you can send a check for $180 or more.  This will help to cover the cost of puppy shots, heartworm prevention, spay/neutering etc.
We will pick a puppy for you to adopt, and send a “baby” picture.  Don’t worry they are all cute! We will also send a photo as the dog graduates from the  training program at approximately 2 years of age.

Option 2 - Naming a Puppy
You can name a guide dog puppy for a sponsorship of $1000.  This sponsorship will help in the cost of raising and training of a puppy destined to be a guide dog for the blind or visually impaired.   We will send you a photo of the puppy at approximately 8 weeks of age and another as a working guide dog at approximately 2 years of age.

Option 3 - Sponsoring a Guide Dog
For $5000 you can sponsor a guide dog.  This package would include naming the puppy, puppy photos, photos with the trainer training the dog, and the photos of the working guide at approximately 2 years of age.  We would also have a brass plate put on the guiding harness with your name as the sponsor.
